Top 5 Essential Oils for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome

“With one good sniff, my headache was gone. It was so dramatic. I was hooked on Frankincense and wanted to find out more.”

Headaches can be just one symptom of Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, something many people are dealing with which has been activated by having Covid according to research

What is Mast Cell Activation Syndrome?

Cells that are produced in the soft tissue and bone marrow become activated and release histamine and other mediators that try to fight against something foreign to the body.

It can be toxins, parts of a virus, allergen, affecting the (lipoprotein polysaccharide)  envelope surrounding the virus. When there's an infection in the body and the body is fighting it, some particles are still floating around, so the body looks at it as a particle that is foreign and attacks it. The way it does this is by releasing inflammatory mediators and the mast cells are activated - histamine, cytokine and more. The latest virus and the ‘treatments’ are parts of the virus lingering because the immune system did not fight it off.

Triggers such as lack of sleep, nutritionally deficient food, environmental toxins and allergens can cause the immune system to be overactive, and therefore cause a weakened immune system.

Are you healthy?

A high percentage of people are not in optimum health, according to the standards of Functional Medicine.

One can be pre-diabetic even though their sugar tests are normal. Someone can be very thin, but eat a lot of carbs and when you don’t eat healthy foods such as vegetables, the microbiome in the body is unstable.

MCAS (Mast cell activation syndrome) patients often benefit from strong immune modulators, nervous system trophorestorative, and mucilaginous herbs that soothe and heal the GI system. Immune modulatory herbs serve to “retrain” a hyper-reactive immune response. In MCAS, patients either produce too many mast cells or trigger the ones they have more readily.

The clinician must determine what each patient’s triggers are and address each of those as well. Inflammation modulators aid in immune cell regulation, helping to retrain the inflammatory cascade.
